The Process of Clay Making

In Room 8, we are busy creating a self portrait from clay. So far we've made our clay face, practicing techniques like using slip and cross hatching to attach noses and other knobbly bits. We've also packed them up and sent them to be fired, planned our paint job using Picasso for inspiration, and started painting our beautiful faces! We're not quite finished yet, but they're looking pretty cool! Take a look and see for yourself ...

Group B: "What a mess" from Junior Journal 30

Group B are learning to summarise different stories in different ways. This week, they acted out their story as a group. They decided to have a narrator to read the story, and the rest of the group were characters in the story and read the lines. They told the story, "What A Mess," from Junior Journal 30. It is all about Dad cleaning the garage. Group B thought that they could relate to the story because they have seen messes before, even in their bedrooms!

Kelly Sports 2010

We love it when Kelly Sports ask us to join their programme! As a promo for their after school club, Kelly Sports come to school during school time and do a half hour clinic with two classes at a time. We got to go with Room 9, the other Year 3 class. There were lots of activities, like dishwasher rugby, fishing for tennis balls, bowling, and other cool things. It was lots of fun!

Group C performs "Lucky Dip"

This week, Group C used their dramatic ability to act out a play from Junior Journal 40, called Lucky Dip. The play is all about a shopkeeper who sells different types of birthdays in boxes. You can buy any type of birthday party you want - ice cream parties, loud parties, quiet parties, fancy dress parties and lots of other kinds. Unfortunately, two dogs knock over the shelves and mix up all the parties. How will Luka and Tiana solve this problem? Watch the movie to find out!
